In the 1990s and 2000s, Heidi McCormack moved to Moscow with General Motors at a time when Russia was beginning to change and open to the world. Living and working there gave her a unique window into a society in transition, and it was during this period that she discovered her passion for modern art.
What began as curiosity soon became a calling. Heidi was drawn to the vibrancy, honesty, and raw creativity of the artists she encountered — voices that had long been hidden but were now ready to be seen. She began collecting works that spoke to her, each one carrying with it a story of resilience, imagination, and cultural transformation. Many of the artists she met during those years became lifelong friends, deepening the personal connection she has to the collection.
Over the years, her collection has grown into a tapestry of that extraordinary moment in history. For Heidi, these are not just paintings — they are reminders of friendships, discoveries, and the spirit of a place and time that left a lasting imprint on her life.
